What Happened Today – April 7, 2026

Donald Trump told the world a civilization would die Tuesday night, and for about twelve hours, nobody could be sure he didn’t mean it.

On Easter Sunday he posted “open the fuckin’ Strait” and signed it “Praise be to Allah.” He told children at Monday’s Easter Egg Roll about hostile territory in Iran while standing next to the Easter Bunny. By Tuesday morning he was on Truth Social and posted, “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.”

Networks put countdown clocks on screen. The Pope called it truly unacceptable and told citizens worldwide to contact their political leaders and demand peace. When a reporter asked the White House press secretary whether the president would use a nuclear weapon, she answered, “Only the President knows where things stand and what he will do.”

A Pakistan-brokered ceasefire was announced ninety minutes before the deadline, and the president who threatened to erase 5,000 years of Persian civilization called it a night. But Tuesday will be remembered as the day an American president said the words out loud, and the whole planet stopped to wonder if he meant it. Call your representatives through Resistbot and 5 Calls and tell them the pattern from “open the fuckin’ Strait” to “a whole civilization will die tonight” is reason enough to invoke the 25th Amendment, even if that means a Vance presidency.

Today's Quote
I did not ask for this job. I love working for President Trump. It’s the greatest honor of a lifetime. And if President Trump chooses to keep me as acting [attorney general], that’s an honor. If he chooses to nominate me, that’s an honor. If he chooses to nominate somebody else, and I go back to being the [deputy attorney general] that’s an honor. If he chooses to nominate somebody else and asks me to go do something else, I will say, “Thank you very much. I love you, Sir.” So, I don’t have any goals or aspirations beyond that.
