I need to tell you something difficult.
Four cabinet secretaries targeted Minnesota’s Somali community in 48 hours this week: Treasury, Transportation, Small Business, Agriculture. Then ICE announced 100 agents heading to Minneapolis.
This followed the President saying, on camera, “I don’t care. I don’t want them in our country. Their country is no good for a reason.”
He knew it was wrong. He said it anyway.
This is what coordinated ethnic targeting looks like when the federal government does it. The President names an enemy. The cabinet executes.
I know it’s hard to hear that your country is doing this. It’s harder to hear that we’ve done it before: to Black Americans, to the Japanese, to the Chinese, to Indigenous nations. The question is whether we act now or explain to our grandchildren why we didn’t.
Our silence is cover for this. Call your rep and senators today and demand they name the ethnic targeting occurring.
