Donald Trump claimed Saturday that his Justice Department found 20,000 fraudulent votes in California, “and maybe even Millions.”
The federal government spent months threatening California election officials with criminal charges. Judge David Carter wrote Wednesday that the threats must stop, and on Friday Judge Trina Thompson ordered an end to them, at least until Nov. 16.
Homeland Security said in July that close to 200,000 noncitizens were registered to vote in California. By October, the feds’ list was down to 20,930 names, and UCLA researchers announced Saturday that 8,880 of them aren’t on the state’s voter rolls at all. At least 22 are naturalized citizens whose ballots the Trump administration wanted set aside.
