What Happened Today – October 26, 2026

Social Security filled in the citizenship line on 25 million Americans’ records using a Homeland Security database that has flagged citizens as noncitizens.

The agency called it the biggest cleanup in its 91-year history and said it is changing the citizenship status on 8.5 million more records. That database was rebuilt last year around Social Security’s own files, which the agency previously said can’t settle whether someone is a citizen.

With the Supreme Court’s permission, DHS has spent the past month checking voters against those same Social Security records. On Monday, federal prosecutors brought a Homeland Security list to Washington state and asked it to set aside more than 400 ballots. Washington has recorded 15 noncitizen votes since 1982.

Today's Quote
[The] affordability crisis — it's a myth. And sure they can talk about gasoline. President Trump’s right, that it’s going to drop like a rock soon. But the bottom line is, if you adjust for inflation, adjust for changes in prices, Americans are $1 trillion better off than they were when President Trump took office.
