Also today, Trump’s Transportation Department finalized Freedom Means Affordable Cars, a rule letting automakers sell vehicles that get fewer miles to the gallon. The department’s own estimate says drivers will burn about 100 billion more gallons over the next generation.
AAA puts the national average at $4.48 for regular and $6.45 for diesel. The week the war began, diesel cost $3.71.
