Donald Trump wants the man who brokers America’s deportation deals in Africa to be his ambassador to Cameroon.
Christian Ehrhardt runs the State Department’s Office of Remigration. Cameroon signed on last December, agreeing to take up to 1,000 people who aren’t from there, the same day the US approved nearly $400 million in health aid. He would return as ambassador to the embassy where he once ran security.
The Supreme Court today let these deportations continue without meaningful notice. More than 25,000 people have been expelled so far.
Cameroon’s first flight left Louisiana in January with its passengers handcuffed and chained. In Yaoundé they were held in a government compound and told they could leave only if they agreed to go home.
