A reporter walked into North Carolina’s booth at the America 250 fair and found the Confederate battle flag grafted onto the state flag.

North Carolina has never carried that emblem on its flag, not even when it seceded. Somebody built this version on purpose, celebrating a Confederate North Carolina.

There is no gentle reading of that emblem. It was the banner of an armed rebellion fought to keep human beings enslaved and of an army that killed more than 100,000 United States soldiers. It stayed on the screens until a reporter filmed it, which means the people throwing America its 250th birthday weren’t watching closely enough to notice the flag of the country’s enemies that tore it apart at gunpoint.
