A federal judge told Donald Trump he cannot tear down the Kennedy Center without asking 30 days in advance.
Trump said Wednesday the building would “end up being ripped down” without his name on it. Hours later a photographer caught him on Air Force One reading a poster that said “Kennedy Center DEMOLISHED,” and by this morning the whole place was fenced off and closed to the public.
Judge Christopher Cooper wrote that his order covers demolition. Congress already budgeted $257 million for the repairs. Trump has said they happen only if his name goes on the building. Across town, the Institute of Peace’s ousted board filed suit today to keep him from engraving his name on that building’s façade.
